West Fraser exports lumber primarily into the East Asian markets. Our products are transported by truck and by rail to reloads in Surrey, B.C., near Vancouver. There it is trans-loaded into containers, prepared for breakbulk shipments. By using the re-load centre, West Fraser can offer its customers highly mixed loads while significantly improving our on-time shipment performance. The export reload facility allows us to have greater control over each order as well as a more extensive selection of shipping lines and docks in Vancouver. In this respect, we can competitively service more discharge ports with higher frequency in Japan and other overseas markets.
